Cruise Price Match, Honestly Explained
What the guarantees cover, what “we beat any price” really means, and how to compare offers.

A cruise price match sounds simple: find the same cruise cheaper and the seller lowers your price. In practice the phrase covers several very different things — a cruise line’s written best price guarantee, an agency’s promise to “beat any price,” and a hopeful phone call after you spot a lower fare online. This guide explains each one honestly, names the cruise lines that publish their own guarantees, and shows you how to compare two offers so you can tell which is really better.
We will say plainly what this site does not do: we do not promise to beat or match anyone’s price. Cruise fares are set by the lines, not by agencies. What our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise can do is quote the same sailing, lay out everything included, and help you compare it fairly against any offer you hold.

Unlike a television or a pair of shoes, a cruise cabin is not bought wholesale by the store and resold at whatever markup it chooses. The cruise line sets the fare for each cabin category on each sailing, changes it as bookings come in, and pays the selling agency a commission. Most major lines also have pricing policies that stop agencies advertising fares below the line’s own, or promoting cash rebates the line did not create. Cruise Discounters covers the history of those rules.
So when two honest sellers quote the identical cabin, sailing and fare type on the same day, the base cruise fare should match. Differences come from what is added on top — and from whether the two quotes are really describing the same thing.

The Three Kinds of “Price Match” You Will Meet
A cruise line’s best price guarantee
A written policy on the line’s own site. It usually lets you claim a lower fare the line itself is now selling for the same ship, date and cabin category, before final payment. Some pay the difference as a fare reduction, others as onboard credit.
An agency promise to match or beat
Normally a promise to add something — onboard credit, a gratuity, a bottle of wine — so the package feels better than a competitor’s, within what the line allows. It rarely lowers the fare itself.
A courtesy request
Calling after you see a better fare. If no published policy applies, the answer depends on the fare type and the line’s rules on the day.

Before You Ask Anyone to Match a Price
- Make it identical. Same ship, sail date, cabin category (not just “balcony”), number of guests and fare type, refundable or non-refundable.
- Check what is bundled. Drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities or onboard credit can make a higher fare the better deal, or a lower one the worse.
- Compare totals. Taxes, fees and port expenses belong in both numbers. Cruise Price Shopper shows how to build a full-trip comparison.
- Get it in writing. A screenshot or written quote with the date is what any best price guarantee claim will ask for.
- Watch the calendar. Most guarantees end at final payment; a few allow a free upgrade afterwards.

Send us the offer you have — from a cruise line, another agency or a sale page — and our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise will quote the same sailing and lay the two side by side, line item by line item. If yours is the better offer, we will tell you so. If ours includes more of what you would actually use, you will see exactly why. Current offers worth comparing against are collected on Cruising for Less and, in the January-to-March booking season, on WaveSeason.com. Cruise Price Match Questions
Will you beat any cruise price?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who promises it. Cruise lines set the fare for each cabin, and agencies sell it at that fare. What we will do is quote the same sailing, show you exactly what is included, and compare it honestly with any written offer you already have.
Do cruise lines price match?
Several publish a policy that lets you move to a lower fare the line itself is offering for the same ship, date and cabin category, usually only before final payment. Few, if any, match a lower price from a different seller.
Is a cruise price match the same as a price drop?
They overlap. A price drop is the line lowering its own fare after you book; a price match or best price guarantee is the written policy that decides whether you can claim it, and how.
